The Weinviertel is the largest wine region in Austria, located between the Danube and the border with Czech Republic in the complete north-eastern end of Austria. We find a great diversity in grape varieties, although the Grüner Veltliner is the most common here. But also Zweigelt, St. Laurent and Pinot Noir are often found and produce surprisingly good wines.
In this region you will find many family companies in which the newest generation often has started to run the winery at a very young age. The combination of centuries old traditions from the families, combined with the knowledge and experience of the current modern wine business ensures the production of unique wines, that are full of flavour, always surprising and never too much!
Weinviertel was the first region with an own DAC for their Riesling and Grüner Veltliner wines, and recently also with their Reserve category.
